I am still amazed at this date. I cannot stop smiling....Kind of silly to have been so nervous.
On my way to meet him I picked up some coffee for both of us & then met him in the park next to the Ice Skating rink. We drank the coffee and talked about how he had been ice skating only a few times in his entire life....and how I used to go every Friday night as a kid. I assured him that he'd be fine- if all those little kids could do it- so could he. We skated & chatted for about an hour and neither of us fell down- although there were a few close calls when I had to catch him before he did....and that's when the smiling began. I was at ease with him & I knew that our date was going to be amazing.
From there we walked a few blocks to a Sushi place where we enjoyed some great wine & Japanese food. I learned that he has a friend who lives in Japan so he had been there to visit and loves Japanese food. He was able to learn that I also have been to Japan and we talked a bit about it. The waitress asked us if we were interested in dessert & we told her we'd let her know. I suggested a different place for desserts if he was interested....and we were on our way to a locally owned Cheesecake place that has THE BEST Cheesecakes in town.
I love my desserts & usually don't prefer to share- but in the spirit of being romantic- we shared. Their eating area featured a Saltwater fish tank so we both sat on the same side of the table (to make it easier to share of course) and watched the fish & just kept on talking for nearly an hour. It was early when we got there so by this point the tables were filling up & our coffee cups were empty & every last bite of the dessert had long been eaten. So we went up the street for a few drinks. We went to a few bars that were full (apparently downtown is a happening place on Saturday nights) and eventually settled on my favorite (why we didn't go there first I'm not sure) There were 2 seats at the bar & we squeezed ourselves into the space (conveniently we had to sit close together) and enjoyed another 2 hours.
I certainly didn't want the date to end....but he did have to drive home so our dated ended with a kiss....and another kiss.....and then a "Drive safe" both walking our separate ways to our cars only to turn back and get one last kiss in for the road. Really it was just like a movie- all of it. I have never smiled like this in my entire life....perhaps its just blissful happiness. Time will tell, but this man is amazingly funny in a way that I can appreciate because its the same kind of funny (that most people don't get) as me. He is more handsome in person than in his photographs (handsome really isn't the word) and intelligent. 6 hours of conversation....
I woke up today on cloud 9.....I really can't wait to see where this is all going- but realistic too that it was just a first date. But could this be the start of something more amazing? Keep your fingers crossed. In the meantime- I've got a date with the electrician on Wednesday.....
