This week was essentially a vacation for me. I traded out a trip that I was assigned mid-week for something over the weekend, so I wouldn't have to work with a particular flight attendant. Flexible schedules are amazing!
So far this week has been less than productive after flying 4 days straight last week and waking up before the sun each day. You would think I would pick up and go sit on a beach somewhere....no. This Flying Diva parked her behind at home and endured a 90 minute Union Conference Call, helped a pilot find a place to live in base, dropped $90 on a pair of work shoes and went to lunch with friends to finally catch them up on the happenings of my life.
Yes....$90 on a pair of shoes for work. I am on my feet for 14 hours a day....so its well worth it to find a good shoe that will last me 6 months....and look good :) The women who work in the shoe department of Dillards are all retired Flight Attendants, ironically, so I know I can go there and say "Its time for a new pair!" and they will bring me everything that they deem to be compliant and comfortable. They know what its like!
I go back to work tomorrow for 4 days. To be fair its 2 days followed by 2 days (we call this a back to back 2 day) I will be working through our southern hub, while My Pilot will be flying out of one of our northern hubs, so it is doubtful that I will have anything to report on him for next time.
This time however....he decided to NOT wake up for the first flight out of his west coast residence to commute to the east coast, which was the worst idea ever considering its spring break and flights on every airline are oversold. He finally made it onto one mid-afternoon to DC and then has to hop another one to base....I didn't have the heart to tell him that the RJ he's getting on tends to be weight restricted and always full. I allowed him the victory of securing a 6 hour jumpseat ride to the east coast.
Tonight he is supposed to tell his "other flight attendant" that he is no longer going to see her. I don't know how I feel about him actually seeing her, but I understand that its probably the right thing to do. Part of me says, well if it was just sex and there were no feelings involved by either of them, then what's the big deal? The other part of me knows I have to trust him...because time will reveal the truth if he's lying.
Next Post.....With this east coast rain, I'm sure there will be more interesting flying stories to tell.
